Director of Finance and Capital Markets

About the Role

Loan Factory is seeking a strategic and hands-on Director of Finance & Capital Markets to lead both financial operations and secondary market execution.

This hybrid leadership role combines the responsibilities of a Controller and a Capital Markets / Secondary Leader, overseeing financial integrity while optimizing loan pricing, execution, and investor strategy.

You will play a critical role in scaling a high-growth, AI-driven mortgage platform—owning financial accuracy, liquidity management, and profitability across the full loan lifecycle.


Key Responsibilities

1. Financial Leadership (Controller Function)

  • Oversee all accounting operations, including GL, AP/AR, payroll, and financial reporting
  • Ensure timely and accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual close
  • Prepare and present financial statements in accordance with GAAP
  • Establish and maintain strong internal controls and audit readiness
  • Lead cash flow management, forecasting, and treasury operations
  • Partner with executive leadership on budgeting, forecasting, and strategic planning

2. Capital Markets & Secondary Execution

  • Own loan pricing strategy, rate sheet development, and margin optimization
  • Oversee loan sales, delivery, and execution in the secondary market
  • Build and manage relationships with investors, aggregators, and warehouse lenders
  • Monitor lock pipeline, pull-through, and hedging strategies
  • Ensure best execution across all loan products and channels
  • Analyze market trends, spreads, and loan sale profitability

3. Risk, Compliance & Reporting

  • Ensure compliance with financial, lending, and regulatory requirements
  • Oversee warehouse line utilization, reconciliation, and reporting
  • Monitor and manage exposure to interest rate, pipeline, and liquidity risks
  • Partner closely with compliance, audit, and risk teams

4. Systems, Automation & Process Optimization

  • Lead implementation and optimization of financial and capital markets systems
  • Drive automation across accounting, pricing, and reporting workflows
  • Partner with technology teams to enhance AI-driven pricing, forecasting, and analytics
  • Continuously improve operational efficiency and scalability

5. Leadership & Team Development

  • Build, lead, and mentor accounting and capital markets teams
  • Establish KPIs and performance metrics aligned with company growth goals
  • Foster a culture of accountability, innovation, and continuous improvement

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field (CPA preferred)
  • 8–12+ years of experience in mortgage finance, with exposure to both accounting and secondary markets
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP, financial reporting, and internal controls
  • Deep expertise in mortgage secondary markets, loan pricing, and hedging strategies
  • Experience managing warehouse lines and investor relationships
  • Proven leadership experience managing cross-functional teams
  • Strong analytical, strategic thinking, and decision-making skills
  • Experience with mortgage LOS, pricing engines, and financial systems

Technology & AI Proficiency (Required)

  • Strong proficiency with modern financial and operational technology platforms
  • Experience using or willingness to adopt AI tools (e.g., ChatGPT, data analytics platforms, automation tools) to enhance decision-making and efficiency
  • Ability to leverage AI for financial analysis, forecasting, pricing optimization, and reporting automation
  • Experience driving or supporting AI-driven initiatives in finance, capital markets, or operations is highly preferred
  • High adaptability to rapidly evolving technology and digital transformation initiatives

Compensation & Benefits

  • Compensation: $130,000 – $150,000 base + performance bonus
